PULP AND PAPER
Paper Mill Pumps
A paper pulp pump was severely damaged by abrasion because of the presence of paper clips and staples in the pulp it transports. The existing coating could not withstand this abrasive paste which caused impingement.
Belzona 1311 was used on the major holes with a steel reinforcement sheet to rebuild the pump casing. Then, Belzona 1812 was applied overall the inside surface of the pump casing to offer a protection against erosion.

Trapped material under the press roll caused scoring damage to the surface.
The only alternative was to replace the rollers entirely, as no hot work techniques could be used due to the geometry of the rollers. The cost and lead time of the Belzona repair is significantly lower than replacement, resulting in huge savings for the customer.

Some thin wall and through-wall defects (live leaks) were found on weld joints upon removal of the existing insulation.
Wall thickness readings were taken prior to any work being completed. Belzona 1511 was used to rebuild thin wall defective areas prior to the application of Belzona 5871. Due to non-sparking requirements onsite, the substrate was prepared using MBX bristle blaster and wire brushing.
